Healthcare Disparities Drive Economic Change

Stateline believes that the access to healthcare for impoverished Americans may instigate economic change on the state level. Advocates for higher wages earned more attention when they related health and income levels to supplement their argument.

Minnesota Department of Health concluded that there are significant health disparities between different races. Georgia also identified disparities in access to healthcare and patient outcomes.

According to Kris Rhodes, executive director of the American Indian Cancer Foundation, Minnesota’s health department released a health equity study that highlights the fact that health is more than what happens in the doctor’s office.
